FullFrame Cameras (24 x 36 mm)
Full Frame (24 X 36mm) lenses require what is considered a standard image circle in 35mm photography. All lenses produce a circular image regardless of how the viewer crops the image and this image is referred to as the image circle. A full frame lens has a sensor which produces a final framed image that is approximately 24mm high by 36mm wide. Therefore, if a lens produces an image circle larger than 24mm, the image will be cropped on the top and bottom. If the image circle is larger than 36mm, the image will be cropped on all four sides. Conversely, if the image circle is 24mm or less, the image will fit in the frames as a circle framed in black. This framing must be taken into account when choosing a lens for 360 degree panoramic photography.
